Teeth Whitening Products
Popular teeth-whitening products available from
major retailers should be banned. Dr Joseph Greenwall-Cohen, the lead author of
a report in the British Dental Journal, indicated that the active ingredient in
three popular non-hydrogen peroxide formulas is sodium chlorite which liberates
a small amount of chlorine dioxide in the presence of acid.

“I hear people talking about the
language of participation, justice, equality and transparency but no one raises
the real issue of tax avoidance and of the rich just not paying their fair

These products “significantly reduce the hardness of
the teeth and increase the likeliness for future surface abrasions of the
teeth.”
“Not all bleaching products are the same and not all
[of them] are safe.”
Boots,
Superdrug and Brilliant 5 Minute manufacturer, Lornamead, all contested the
doctor’s findings.
